12/3/2012
Box Score

ERIE, Pa. Kutztown's Alyssa Bonenberger (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) notched her first career double-double and Ashley Wood (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) poured in a season-high 23 points to lead the Golden Bears to a 70-60 win at Mercyhurst in PSAC Crossover action.

Bonenberger had 10 points and 10 rebounds to continue her strong start to the season. She hit 3-of-5 field goals and added two steals.

Wood, meanwhile, scored the most points by a Golden Bear this year on 7-of-16 shooting.  She sank 3-of-5 from three-point range and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line and had three steals.

Advia Campbell (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came off the bench to score 13 points, matching the output of the entire Laker bench as Kutztown's bench scored 25 points in the contest.

The Golden Bears trailed by one, 29-28, after a three by Dana Banda with 2:08 left in the half before scoring the final seven points of the period for a 35-29 lead at the break.  Wood answered with a three of her own for a two-point lead, then after a jumper by Aly York (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone), Nicole Donahue (Wall, NJ/St. Rose) made a layup with six seconds left for the six-point advantage.

Mercyhurst battled back and led 49-48 with 9:16 to play after a free throw by Alayna White.  A layup by Wood on the Golden Bears' next possession ignited an 18-6 back breaking run that put KU ahead 66-55 with 1:43 to play.

KU, who shot over 50 percent in the first half and 46 percent in the contest, had no difficulty getting to the rim in the contest.  Over half of the team's points, 38, came in the paint against the Lakers.

After shooting just two free throws in the first half, KU went 15-of-18 in the second half to finish at 85 percent in the game (17-of-20).

Kaylee Foster led Mercyhurst with 14 points, while Adrienne Kloecker added 11 points and eight boards.

Kutztown is idle until traveling to Shippensburg on December 8 for its PSAC East
